Thank you for everything Scotty! In this video you told a guy who has a Honda with 125,000 mi on it he could change the oil in his AT. Unluckily, I never heard the answer to my question that I put a few times: I have a '10 Toyota with a CVT and it has just 50,000 mi on it. Should I change the oil in the CVT? They say only 1/2 of the oil drains out of the CVT, should I do it twice then?

The Auto Zone web site is impossible to navigate, while the Advance web site is far superior. Likewise the sales people are much better in my local experience. The savings with Advance by buying on line is at least 20%, and if they dont have it they will search all their area stores and have it by normally THAT DAY. I do all my own repairs / maintenance and you cant beat this.

actually the system that is used in Autozone stores is not the all data system at all . The system that is used in the store is possibly the worse system of all the big parts stores . Because they charge for the All Data system they dont want customers getting free info from Autozone staff so keep it under wraps. the system they use in the store they call Z net. and its next to useless no diagrams and you have to know exactly what the name of the part is in the Z net system or you wont find it you cant type in reverse light bulb and find it because they call it a back up light bulb in the system for instance. it really stinks and makes the staff look bad . often times the customer can get better info from Autozones Pentium

Parts vendors are like golf clubs: you learn to use different stores for certain jobs. You have your Go-to source, but it pays to shop. If I need it now, I'm blessed with several choices...except on Sundays...then your're stuck with the chain stores. If you can wait on the part, then online works. I have recently swallowed the Alldata Kool aid and see it as a necessary evil since quality printed manuals for modern cars don't exist. But if you live in a rural area with spotty internet, then you are stuck driving into town and getting whatever you can get from what vendor is there. When I lived in rural New York, you bent over and took it from the local NAPA store. Rural Colorado was fun in the 1980s. There was a Big A and a Ford dealer. The Ford dealer still had NOS parts for Model T and Model A. I tend to use who gives me a discount. Locally for me that's OReilly.

Does waking up your battery by turning the headlights on really work? Many car's lights come on when you unlock the doors remotely and even if they don't when you unlock the doors the power lock uses the battery, deactivating the alarm system sometimes toots the horn, the dome lights power on, and with modern cars you step on the brake to activate the ignition on many keyless cars. Some dash displays pop on too. Also, if you pause for a second or two after turning the key in the ignition the car's fuel pump, or pumps will pressurize the fuel system activating the battery.

I found that I could buy original parts at AZ for much less than at a dealer.

Scotty, I love your metaphor of essentially “car-sized drones”! I mean, why not adapt drone tricks to people-size?! What most people want is to get in their “pod”, tell Siri or Alexa where to go, and that’s it. (I could go on about the euphoria of driving, I won’t, because those who live check to check already realize what a stupid investment PRIDE is when you just want the machine to make it all automated). You rock, Sir!

LMAO, you obviously have no clue do you? Coupons are useless, because they overcharge you to begin with and how much did you spend to get that coupon?

Buddy! Any thoughts on the *rumor* of “Built to Break?” That’s how car marketing needs to be carefully handled, because (unless Scotty says I’m wrong) they *could* make cars that last forever. But just like “BigPharma”, they design their stuff to require replacements because if everyone had a car that ran forever, no repeat business! BigPharma doesn’t want to cure anybody. Or as few as possible to maintain PUBLIC IMAGE, (even though suicide warnings are on the most Rx’d “medicines” on earth; they could fix people permanently, but that’s capitalist suicide for corporations! Refill every month...

You said manual transmissions are better but they now install residual valves in the slaves cylinders which cause clutches to only last 40,000 to 50,000 miles. Remove the valve from the slave and it will last longer and have a better bite.

Good point, I use them too. They have nice menu style, to help narrow things down.
