I wll not buy it for 500
I got a 2000 f250 7.3 powerstroke with a manual transmission. Paid $6500. It has almost 200k miles no major issues. Drove it 6 hours home
@Scotty Kilmer Thank you, Scotty.
Man i like you,but anybody who knows anything about these knows the timing chain issues,as well as bad 5 speed auto, crappy rear diffs, reminds me of how you never call out ford tritons of 04-2010,7 years of bad 3 valve tritins known for bad timing chains, and no talk of 2 valve 5.4 and the spark plug issues with the 2 valve and 3 valve, you should know this stuff.
I gave my daughter a 2005 V8 4x4 Limited Explorer I bought for my Mom who passed away and she is approaching 300,000 miles with ZERO issues. Even the Leather is like new after getting beat on by two boys of 9 & 11. She LOVES her Explorer.
Bought my '99 Explorer for $400 three years ago. Never given me any trouble, put about 60,000 miles on it so far. If you get a V6, look for an OHV engine - the SOHC engine was a disaster when it was time for a timing chain job.
What about ford explorer xlt 2005 v8?
That Ford Explorer Is a no go 🙅
“ If You don’t have this cheap suv your dumb “ Lie detector determined that was a lie WE BROKE OUT HERE 😭😂😂😂😂😭
Solid vehicles, I've had 2 Explorers different models both had 300k and still running
Does this mean Ford Expeditions good too?
Cops call these "Ford Exploders" due to the fact the Police Package, ran as hard as they are, they spend more time exploding engine parts than on the road. Again, This is for the police package version, not civilian version.
I got a 01 Mercury Mountaineer used more than 5 years ago my Dad still drives it. Has only had to replace alternor and fuel pump filter no major engine problems. I know have a 2014 chevy equinox 🙄 thinking I would have less problems with a newer vehicle now I find out they have several expensive issues (might have to change timing chain) it sux!
Have a great evening Scotty Sir 👍🏻
Hi SCOTTY SIR 👋
F*** that Ford!!
I will pass on a Ford theyre good for 150 thousand then you better dump it...
The 4.3L Chevy is a better motor
Scotty: Rear ends! ( Booty pic pops up) 😂😂😂. 1:32
This car will cost you around $50,000 in Nepal.
I’ve got a 1998 Ford Explorer XLT with over 240,000 miles and she doesn’t miss a step! She’s a v8 though lol!!
The 2004 Explorer was my first ever car. Man, do I miss that car :(
Why are you calling people names you punk
They say, Explorers frequently have gearbox issues! Is it true?
The more I look at this explorer, the more it looks like the mustangs in the generation. I'm sure they have similar engines.
New oil and filter change with Swepco 509 oil improved or Marvel mystery oil can help the lifter noise.
The Ford Explorer Sport-Trac = Ford Explorer with the pu bed. Usually a pretty deluxe Ford Explorer (4x4, lift etc)
Mom had a two-tone Eddie Bauer and we destroyed that car and it lived
I bought a 95 explorer sport ( 2 dr,2 wheel drive 5 speed manual ) with the 4.0 push rod v6 2 years ago with 102,000 miles for $1200 . And get 27 mpg on the highway in something that looks like its less then 5 years old.
Nope I don't like explorers🤣
Does that Ford explore have eco-boost engine?
Why do you need to call out your audience “Stupid” could of say you should own this cheap SUV! We made you rich sucker.
If you're still watching Scotty Kilmer videos after he calls you stupid, you're stupid
Bought a 1500$voyager 4cyl been good 40mpg hwy.
Guess I’m stupid
If you still have RECEDING hair but refuse to cut what's left on your head , your STUPID!
The Ford Exploder. Wouldn't touch one. Rather keep my 99.5 Nissan Terrano
Moving to Clarksville @ 7:47 , Yay, no inspections!
Good void
How about lifters on a 6.2L V8 Vortec engine on a 07 Yukon
Dude, Ford explorers are one of the most notoriously bad vehicles you can buy. Don't buy one. Maybe there's an exception for the 2005 to make up for everything they made from 1994-2001, but seriously. They are garbage machines, and not the good diesel kind.
@0:14 Did that mailman sign a release?
Hey how you doing I bought a 2004 Ford Explorer 132000 miles $3296. Are they good reliable vehicle the only thing that I don't like about it it is a rear wheel and I live in Midwest iowa
I have a '99 V6 Eddie Bauer. 266k mi. I get similar chatter every now and again. I'm told I have to change timing chain tensioners and chain. How can I tell lifter chatter or timing? It chatters some times at idle but sound goes away above 1000-1500 rpm. I drive really easy
If you're looking for a good used SUV to buy, don't buy one anywhere the D.O.T. spreads road salt during the winter. I find many mechanically well maintained vehicles here in Northwest Illinois, but the bodies are rotten. What you see on the outer body is minor compared to the rusted out suspension and brake lines underneath. Sometimes they just aren't worth fixing, even if you do all the work yourself. I search the internet for southern vehicles I am in. I'll go south and bring them back using a tow dolly. My 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee has 235,000 miles on it and still runs and drives like new. Very minimal rust underneath. If it weren't for rust, I can easily get close to half a million miles on most vehicles, like I did with my 1989 Pontiac Bonneville SSE. It had 485,000 miles before I sold it to a co-worker, who drove it for a couple more years. The body was getting to the point it was no longer repairable.
Scotty do we have a reputable transmission repair in the Nashville area?
A Envoy is a good suv too
I drive taxi here in Bangor Maine and our company uses nothing but Explorers because the owner knows how to repair them. As is probably known, the transmissions are problematic, very expensive, and difficult to locate since one went out during the year I've driven for them.
Here in Ecuador I own an Isuzu Dmax 3.0 diesel 4JH1-TC manual trans, and it has 272892 miles, the engine and trans has never been open, so for Me Explorers are garbage 😆😆
I have absolutely no reason to own one of those gas hogs. It would be a waste of money for me to pay insurance and registration fees for it. And i had a 97 explorer years ago and it seemed like every time i drove it something else would break. A starter for that thing costed me $265. Thats not cheap. And also you dont own one either. So are you also stupid scotty?
In our country there is a saying - do not buy cars whose names begin with F - Ford, Fiat and French ;-)
Hell no i had a 07 with a v8 engine worst suv i ever bought engine went out twice never again
Is only work 300 to 500
Garbage suv
Stays true to knowledge and exactly Ford and Toyota is light years ahead of anything else. All my fords 72,92,10,12 all never have issues other than after miles you need to change fluids duh, then rotors brakes battery and called for maintenance duh but all run better.
I've never laughed so much at Tom Cruises expense before. I nearly choked, thank you Scotty, comedic genius.
i have this clunker... its nightmare transmission wise.. had it rebuilt like once, and replaced 2 times, other starter issues, ac, gas fumes, it runs.. but the risk is so damn high
I had one junk
I have 750000 miles total on my 3 ford explorers. Change transmission fluid as directed.
Crash tested good too on the newer one for our new drivers. You actually have a decent amount of vehicle around you. The older ones had some roll over jeep-like issues and the firestone tire thing gave explorer s a bad rep for a bit. Unfortunately I'm a chevy guy and have had several chevy trailblazers. SS, 4.2s and even a 5.3l. they never done me wrong with just normal routine maintenance.
EXPLODER. Yup. Yup. Yup. If you want to die, sure. Is that what they call survival of the fittest?
I got mine! # FORD MAN
I’m ultra stUpid I haven’t ever owned a suv 😂
Had the 2004 explorer sport trac. Loved it! After 90k miles we had engine and transmission issues. Mechanics all hated working on it. Became a money pit. Went Toyota and never looked back
I've owned many makes of vehicles over the last 40 years. Fords being among the least reliable of them all. I stay away from Ford now. Still love Scotty and look forward to his videos.
Ford explorer...if it starts getting a little slower or shifting funny..have the catalytic converter checked..they get plugged up.most people think it's the transmission and sometimes it is.but the cats do plug...same as mazda...
if you ever need parts for these exploders, you can find them at junkyards.
Every time we are stupid if we don’t have any car from Scotty list vehicles)))) it’s funny
Rear ends huh Scotty?? Lol
Bought a 2000 with the 5.0 at 130k miles replaced 3,000 dollars worth of parts in 2 years. Never had to replace anything with the drive train except the drive shaft itself.
I would pay 300 max for that
Im mechanically inclined but i dont have the money to buy a 1500 dollar car and then pray i can fix everything wrong with it.
Would this also include a v6 Mountaineer being fairly decent?
I just bought a 2004 jeep grand Cherokee, mint condition, so I gave my buddy my 97 explorer that I had for 15 years, I loved that thing, 250000 miles, still runs great, my jeep has 150000 miles
Why are you yelling? Is there something going on with the neighbors, so you yell to aggravate them!
You need watch your mouth
Scotty, what years did Ford make the 6 cylinder and what’s the latest year of the older ones which you would recommend?
I bought a '96 back in '99. I owned for 5 years before I stupidly traded for a used BMW money pit. The Explorer was great. Only had to replace the master brake cylinder. That's it. Good truck.
My old boss had one of these before and the timing chain broke and cost thousands to fix it
What are the good years. For the 6 cylinder, Explorer? I’m thinking to tow a small trailer.
I’ve actually been looking to find a good deal on one of these Ford explorers but my car runs fine it’s a 2004 Ford Escape with 220,000 miles runs like a charm has the same lifter ticking then when it’s running and warmed up you can barely hear it fixed some things got it for only 1,000 idk if they got the same engines I got a v6 in my escape but loved this vid just finalized my look into this car even more
The pictures makes my day 😂 thanks Scotty 👍
Ive been putting ethanol in my cars my whole driving life. What now?
I had a brand new 2000 Explorer with the v6. Burned 1 qt every 800.miles....Ford told me that was with in spec....guess what...last Ford I ever bought
I had one of these until about a year ago, but a cooling issue killed it with 285K miles. It replaced a 98 that the ex took in the divorce. All of mine had the column shifter, which I prefer in an SUV. Ford at some point in the 2000s move the shifter to the center console. Waste of space as far as I was concerned, at least in an SUV. Certainly loved my Explorer, though the people here in SA refer to them as "Exploders." A Texas thing?
Other than batteries and LCD screens (which stands for "liquid Crystal Display" so its liquid in a sense) cold weather doesn't effect regular electronics. The Solid State Computer inside that Explorer doesn't care if its -40 or 90 degrees F outside.. It will work just the same.. The injectors my get slower as the fuel and oil is thicker causing increased drag, but in general.. Cold weather doesn't negatively effect the "non-moving" electronics in a car, truck or SUV... In fact... The colder the better for most transistors and mosfets. Thats why extreme overclockers use Liquid Nitrogen to cool their CPU's before testing and why Super Conductors are cooled with Liquid Helium and Hydrogen. Just a little electronics FYI...
Honestly surprised it wasn't a sequoia
From the thumbnail I thought Scottie went nuts and panted it musou black.
Think about it, think, try to think! 😂
We’ll damn do you have one?
Parts are cheap and it is easy to work on...but that is not why I buy a car Scotty.
Thank you Scotty ! I tell people this ALL the time (Intake Manifold) but no one wants to listen !
When the hydraulic lifters starts to tick i normally put a couple of oil flush cleaners and run it for an hour then do an oil and filter change. Sometimes in the colder weather its just the oil a bit thicker that causes the ticking and goes away when warmed up.
I loved my Explorer... the car that broke my heart. 😢. For context, I live in Western Australia... Ford Australia didn’t import that many, due to the Nissan, Toyota hurdles they had in the day. The Exploder... as I was advised by a Pajero friend after I bought it was the first negative... so no biggie for me and that new news. I’m a Ford guy, so that’s how I was going to roll. It drove like a sedan or the freeway and traffic, and was very well appointed. Fuel economy was the same as my 4L Falcon straight 6, as comfortably as well, and as responsive. But, engine light... to the dealership and before the pocket OCD testers were available. After a few events, cancelled lights, returns and wasted time, repeating over, and over... oxygen sensors, other sensors... then stopped on the roadside... back again under tow... off the flatbed... car started!!!! Back again. To cut months of diagnostic failure, the Explorer had a very small fuel pump and a plastic impeller that would seize. Yay, let’s get a new one. So Perth is the most isolated city in the world... West Australia. Parts, if available, were ex- east (Sydney), so. a 3 day wait, if they had one... and told to sit down... $1600!!! Rear window... as the de-mister clip snapped off... hidden disclaimer for the insurance for rear glass... not covered due to the rareness of the car!!!! For a $9000 second hand vehicle. Wrecking yards for the fuel pump. Finally found one. Rare care here!!! None anywhere... finally $150 for an old pump, not bad, same size and vehicle... which then failed about 3-4 weeks later. Still looking... No more fuel pumps anywhere... so we modified an older 89/90 Falcon pump. Double the diameter and better flow rate. Went well until I exceeded the redline a few more times and popped... and popped the cooling system somewhere in one of the head cooling jacket. But it was fun! Kids loved the big red car (mica red was dazzling in the sun) on returning from the Wiggles concert. Still yet to ride in a 4wd as comfortable, or responsive.
Best ones have the 4.6 V8 4.0V6 is just ok
I have a 2001 Explorer and the thing just DOESN'T give up. It does need a new exhaust manifold though but its been an EXCELLENT vehicle
*The value just gone up 200% after this video something happend to the Toyota celica*
I considered the v8 exsplorers but i heard they like to shoot out spark plugs . so i bought a tahoe. All vehicles have issues.
Chevy suburban.
Jeep Cherokee XJ is one of the best SUV for the money, the 4.0 inline 6 will sound like new with 300k miles
I have a 2005 Subaru Outback and I love it. When it goes I’ll probably just buy a newer version:) I paid 1800$ then another 1000 for everything it needed for the safety
Ford Exploder!
i wonder if they have a 2-door variant, would love to get my hands on one of these
Good one Scotty
