YOU HAVE A GOOD SPEAKING VOICE
This might sound like a stupid idea, but I wonder if it would be possible to turbo charge an old gas power generator with old turbo charger parts to get it to reduce the amount of fuel it needs to run? Maybe I should not call it a turbo charger, but something else.
How about a super charger that uses an electrical motor to spin it instead of having to worry about parasitic loss from the belt?
Shouldn't this vid have been posted on your other channel?
Scotty..... Wow, thanks for that "History" lesson. I always kind of haphazardly thought that I knew what thos thing-a-magigigs was and Now I Nose..... Especily that last one...the electrk one.... Love ya bro!
Superchargers are driven directly off of the engine so they actually adsorb HP to make HP, engine top blowers also make it harder to inter-cool the compressed intake charge. Belt and gear driven centrifugal blowers have been used for almost 100 years and are much more efficient plus their remote mounting allows for inter-coolers to be used in the intake track. Blowers generally don't have as wide an RPM range as turbos do and an appropriately sized turbo won't have much noticeable lag at all, especially in a low boost setup, but it still won't have the off idle performance of a blower. Formula One cars have use motor driven turbos since 2014.
I never thought we'd see Scotty show some PROPER American muscle cars! Wonderful, and a fascinating short film.
I attached a 150mph electric leaf blower that ran off a power inverter to my 2WD two door jeep cherokee. It had a 4.0 inline 6 cylinder in it and was completely gutted. Throttle response was great but it couldn't give the volume of air needed at the top end. It sounded cool when I switched it on and had a few drivers that where impressed. We ran low 14's with it.
That was great 👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿 really
You are truly gifted Scotty.
What happen to Scotty on meth? I miss that guy
soo, what's the new mod?
VERY COOL....
this video sucks. No real information at all.
I have a question I just want to get a little bit off the subject I have a 20/20 GT I'm pretty sure I'm past the break-in point I have a thousand miles on my 20/20 now do I have to change the oil even though it had does have a thousand miles on the oil
I am increasingly excited watching your channel progress. I remember when you were showing people what dirty spark plugs look like. Now you are doing excellent content like this. I can’t wait to see what happens in the future. Please continue your path. You are on the right track.
Where do I source a reliable electric supercharger?
🔵 I value it enough that it doesn't matter HOW-many people accept the butchering of our technical-language!, I will NOT just "Go-along with it!".... A "Supercharger" is a 'Positive-Displacement'-device, which means that for every complete rotation of its components the device takes-in and pushes-out a specific and uniform volume of air under a specific and uniform pressure,... ANY-thing with an 'Impeller', 'Expeller' or 'Fan' is NOT!! One term of reference for this device would be the generic 'Fan-forced induction', at least THIS term makes reference to the fact that this is NOT a 'Positive-displacement'-device. I love yuh Scotty!...but I for one REFUSE to refer to ANY impeller-type air conveyance device as a "Supercharger'. ◻
Best Scotty vid I've seen yet!
like your videos now better Scotty - you sound calmer more pro - great work . BTW what do you think about BITCOIN ? BITCOIN to 77K ATH in MARCH, says Max Keiser. WHY you DO NOT want TO SELL your BITCOIN NOW (check my vid thanks)
WHAT new mod?
So I need both lol
Learned something new and my brain feels happier. Thank you
Love these informative videos, especially those talking about some Japanese manufacturers and how did they start 100 years ago. If one day I move to the US, I will be Scotty's neighbor, and next time use Google translate to pronounce MASKINER for you...
Damn a great video
These videos show how intelligent Scotty is. Much respect for you Scotty thank you for sharing your lifetime of knowledge
Not really, I already knew everything that was covered in this video and I'm only average intelligence. Plus he kept saying centrifugal incorrectly.
🔵 Actually,...it merely shows how well Scotty's able to read!
This sounds like scotty on Benzodiazepines! 😭 Are you ok Scotty?
Lol
how about put in honda ridgeline truck
Smart guy
Not only can a turbo charger be more efficient, it can also produce more power than a supercharger. A decent amount of power is robbed from the engine to turn the supercharger. It's just hard to beat that naturally aspirated feel of a supercharger. V8 enthusiast usually really enjoy that.
Where does it attach to my Tesla Model X?
How is any of this a "NEW" mod? Or is 1860 new enough??
goals 1. faster cars.......2,3,50,.....100. less accidents
I think Dennis Hopper got tired of acting and faked his own death and became a youtuber 👀🤔
My fav video you have made. Thanks I learned alot and sent it to a few people
Learned why they call them roots blowers after working on detroits for 50 years
You mean it's not a bunch of stickers?
He’s still making AMget videos ?
I miss my brother's Bonneville SSEi. That thang was faaaaast for how heavy it was and it had tech cars just started having and it was a '93
Very informative. Highly technical information presented in a way that a layman could understand. Beam me up Scotty.
So where do we buy it
If the electric motor you showed at the end is supposed to turn on to help out the turbo and switch off when not needed it should only need the compressor side right? Why does it have a turbine on each end?
This is Scotty??? No intro??? SAD!
So what's the new MOD? I didn't hear you or see it. Where is the 400hp
Love your wisdom Scotty Kil!
This is a really well done video, and packs a lot of info into a Scotty-standard approx. 10 minutes.
Volvo didn't want to choose between both I like that why not have both
This guy is irritating
“ A Supercharger doesn’t have a turbine” - Shows Procharger.
Right there with ya.
Very clear and technical, bravo ,
Common usage of the terms turbocharger and supercharger has obscured their proper definitions, and I feel this video missed an opportunity to set things straight. A supercharger is not different from a turbocharger per se. A supercharger is anything that provides air (the charge) at a higher (super) than atmospheric pressure. Differences are all in just how the supercharger is driven. Whether it's directly off the crank, or driven by an electric motor, it's still a supercharger. It's also still a supercharger if it's driven by a turbine. If you look at old engineering literature, turbine driven superchargers were always referred to as turbosuperchargers. This was somewhat long for common usage, so we just call them turbochargers for short, or turbos for even shorter, but that doesn't change the fact that they still are superchargers. It's like calling an turkey a turkey, while referring ducks and chickens as birds. Birds are not different from turkeys: turkeys are birds too. Turbochargers are superchargers too.
The problem with the whole idea that either a turbo or s/c increases fuel economy is that they run significantly richer mixtures under boost to cool combustion chamber temps.
Removing weight , its like adding power with the bonus of better late braking. Better cornering.
As always Scotty you have put out another quality informative video. All this technology is great, yet everyone is still missing the elephant in the room which increases over and above these items.
I love the THE DODGE HELLCAT! One of the coolest cars on the planet!!!
Waiting for the new mod...where it is?🤔
The only thing lacking about Turbo Cars is... Have you ever really worked on a turbo car? I owned a 1987 Mitsubishi Starion TSI. Did you ever worked on one of those Cars? If not. I guess they were just misunderstood..😎
i think if i put a turbo on my 96 explorer the engine would blow, but it is tempting i would love to be able to go up hill at like 90 miles an hour with out spending 10k on a younger vehicle.
Yes they have super chargers BUT THEY'RE STILL AN ENDLESS MONEY PIT AND RUNNING PILE OF CRAP (insert horse grin). Lmao
I learned something today! Liked and subscribed!
Your videos have gotten very good.
Sorry but f*ck environmentally friendly, I want fast.
This why hydrogen gas will prevent turbo lag and over heating.
The flow path with a screw blower goes through the center, not around the sides of the case like a roots. A more efficient flow path
I need a nap 😴
Thank you for sharing, and have a awesome day!
OK Scotty this seems pretty interesting but if that is the actual product that is available for purchase who is the manufacture of that specific model in where can we get one in where can we see it tested
Well explained
Hey, I added 100 hp to my 96 GMC by putting Z28 decals on it. I found that if you put them over the rear wheels it gives you better traction also. Hey, it works for Hondas. 😁
So awesome
What a great video!
That’s why the P 51 Mustang was so successful . 2 turbos , Rolls Royce Merlin .
The P51 Mustang was 2 speed, 2 stage supercharged. The P47 Thunderbolt on the other hand, was twin turbocharged.
@1:25 real Scotty came out then went back to chill
The 2022 tundra is said to be a v6 twin turbo scotty ! How do u feel about this? I'm upset and worried about reliability!
🤪🤪🤣🤣😜😜
I like turbo lag. I like how it builds as it goes. Am I dumb?
These videos are very educational, but I miss seeing Scotty’s hands
Please can I come to your Garage or please send me your number
lol, Scotty suckered me in with the thumbnail! ...(Again)
Thank you very much for this info, I was going to go with a supercharger, but after this vid, a turbo seems the way to go, 350z. all about saving money these days. What do you think?
AAAHAAHAHHAA!!!! OMFG!!! LMFAO!!!! AAAHAHAHAHHA!!!! AAAHAAHAHHAA!!!! OMFG!!! LMFAO!!!! AAAHAHAHAHHA!!!! AAAHAAHAHHAA!!!! OMFG!!! LMFAO!!!! AAAHAHAHAHHA!!!! AAAHAAHAHHAA!!!! OMFG!!! LMFAO!!!! AAAHAHAHAHHA!!!!
Had me confused. The thumbnail looks like an exploded view of my istick pico without the bottom portion.
Fantastic! My Citroen 2CV is currently 29 bhp. I can wait to get an additional 400 hp with a blower. Might overstress the engine a little.
Great job
Is it worth putting one on a 2.0 or 2.5L Mazda CX-5 for increase in acceleration?
Whats the best turbo for the price for the 3uz-fe engine. 5.7 v8 toyota
You forgot piston super chargers and scroll chargers
With the SRT disbanded... the era of the supercharger as OEM equipment on cars is definetely over. Turbo's win the game. Thanks EPA
I watch one video everyday. My friend and mechanic, Richard Matlock a retired FORD diesel mechanic passed away last summer. You fill the void. He was kind, informative, well spoken and adored by everyone. Thanks Scotty
Your like fine wine better with time.
GuuDStuFF ScoTT
Scoty, thank you so much of this Engine Class:))!
Pretty surprised to hear Scott Kilmer talk about adding horsepower
Scotty we don't know each other but don't stop making the blogs brother. You are a full of intelligent respect.
Thank you Scotty! Actually educational programs in the world. I truly thank you. What you do is a great gift to the whole world and we are all better off because of you and your zeal for education and to help your fellow man.
The Florida pool pump motor repair guy approved ! that was good info
My car has about 75 horsepower. I sure could use another 400 horsepower. Like that's gonna happen.
*Superchargers Rock*
He's not accurate on turbos. He hates them so im not surprised. With the new tech we have in turbos like variable geometry and ball bearings eliminate lag almost completely. The only upside to superchargers is they are more basic to install
I drive a Mazda ... go figure! :)
I really love the informative videos like these
Awesome as always!!! Scotty I'm sure that you have a lot of "what if" or "they should have" on certain models of cars over the years. If you could take any base model of any car over the years and redesign it to your ultimate car what would it be like? Example: Chassis, Engine, transmission, body style, etc...
What about nitro?
