@alan fan I've been in the IT world for 22 years.. they are a horrible company. The sum of the components are parts bin cheap, while they are generally more expensive to buy. They were also at one time run by Meg Whittman who outsourced the helpdesk from California to China on xmas eve because they didn't make quota in 2011. Pre 2005 they were a pretty good company, but i assure you there's much better out there for the same or less money. Outside of parts like power supplies and hard disks a computer should last 10-15 trouble free years. If it doesn't i won't sell, resell or endorse them as a company.
@okay Good advice. However factory remans come with all updates including hard parts and lubrication updates. They also come with a factory warranty nation wide. The only update needed is software. In almost every case of premature automatic transmission failure was due to weak battery, inferior lubrication and cooling, outdated software and operator error. Roll of the dice on aftermarket. There are reputable shops that will rebuild transmission incorporating any updates required.
Hay Scotty, I have a 08 avalanche that stopped slipping down into the four cylinders to run versus the whole eight because of the engine it has, is it worth fixing this issue or just leave it alone because it runs fine
@okay Hello, okay
@RustbeltRob classic, I respect your opinion. I am no IT pro but I have nothing but praise for HP for the stellar customer service that I have received from them. From my limited experience, the majority of components in all brands of computers seem to be manufactured by a tiny number of suppliers. So as long as all of the internal components are equal and the build quality is equal, all that is really left are the ergonomic design and the customer support. The physical HP human interface devices that I use fit me well and the few instances when I needed customer support for my equipment, HP was kind, caring, understanding, and over-the-top helpful in resolving the issues. Unlike some other brands that I had the misfortune to have to contact. So HP gets my business 100% now.
Damn I was hoping you would demonstrated there sound it was making. I have an 09 z71 that’s making a squeak/ clunk on initial takeoff But it is fine other wise
Hard shifting on the Silverado transmission fixed.....it was in the Tow Haul mode. : - )
Wait I’m curious. Do you do mechanic work anymore? Or only diagnostic?
I should have seen this.
My brother had a 08 Chevy 1500 4wd and it had over 300 thousand miles on it and it’s still going so I disagree sorry Scotty!
I mean my 2010 chevy malibu has 170K miles on the original trans and engine and it runs good
General Motors anyone shocked 😂😂
You always telling people what to buy. Next someone needs a vehicle. You buy them one and pay for it. This is why. Every vehicle you said was bad. I had really good luck with with them.
Saw a 1978 Camaro listed. Where's the video on that one?
What's a good grate motor? I have a 56 belair with a 327 and I'm wanting to replace it. thx
Sounds like my 2004 expedition
My favorite is the Allison 5-speed and 6-speed transmissions that are coupled to Duramax diesels. My ride is a 2005 GMC Sierra 2500, with 332,237 miles and no rebuilds or replacements. The Allison and the engine still perform like new, and fluid is super easy to change, with an external screw on oil filter as well. Wish they were all Allison's on these trucks.
the truck got the shaft
Seeing this after buying a 03 avalanche with 170k miles 😅 but I paid little for it well under blubook
Scotty I have learned so much from you!
My dad's 07' Silverado has over 400,000 km's on it. No issues.
I think Scotty is wrong with GMT900 era GM trucks...Consumer Report’s recommended used truck and mine has been ultra reliable.
My 2010 F150 is unstoppable. Over 200k and still going strong. The best pick-up trucks EVER.
I used to be a Chevy guy, but I'm better now.
GM is Crap
So how do the remanufactured transmissions fare?
Hey scotty once you steam a clam it looks like its smiling after it opens up thats why its happy
Those 6 speeds go bad all the time. Little tip: just pull the dipstick and if the fluid looks brown/orange, expect the trans to be on its way out. If you change the old fluid out they usually start slipping so if the fluid looks new then you’ll be able to tell if it’s bad.
Happy as a Steamed Clam because when they are steamed they open up, they open their shells and the shells look like they're laughing their heads off, hence happy as a steamed claim. 🤣
KERRY MARTIN TRUNEWS America is destroying itself so government can track every movement you make with computerizing everything. F JUNK.
My dad has been having a 2009 silverado and it's a amazing car it has over 170000 miles and it work fine
Used to buy a used Chevy with over 100,000 miles and it was just breaking in. Lol. Shame what they’ve done
Does that include 2014 to 16 gmc 1500 trucks too? I'm I'm the market to buy one.
Have a 05 chevy Silverado 264k just replaced transmission few months ago
Which model transmission is this and is the the same transmission in a 2007 Hummer H3?
" As long as it starts be happy " Classic.
Can you bolt up a TH400 lol
are you good for Lucas stop slipping there you think that might help it
Will the 05 with the four speed have the same problem?
I was gonna buy a 2011 GMC Sierra with 214,000 km but went with 2009 f150 instead, thankfully
My 1994 Silverado truck appears to be in limp mode but I feel that it's not getting any electricity at all
I had a '75 280z I purchased for a whopping $250 in 2009. Sold it to pay for my wedding. I miss that car so damn much 😞 but at least I'm still married.
Right. Scotty, do you think a 2015 Camry with 83000 miles would be a good buy at15000?
Toyota are boring cars. I have tryed 2 times a Toyota: around 2008 i have tryied, i think it was a 1999 camry, this car have no cup holder (so wise for a berlin) and it had a less zippier engine than my Saturn Ion 2003. And I drove the 2010 Yaris of my mom and even if the suspension was reduilt, even if the rotor/brakes pads were almost new i could heard a bunch of weird noise and almost smash in the rear of a other car du to the lack of braking power (took like 30 feets to fully stop while i was not even running at 20 miles/hour). BTW in Sweden the purchase more volkswagen than Volvo those years. And in a real tough climate like the province of Quebec Volkswagen are very popular and take age as the same as Toyota or Honda...and i dont think if any of low budget car of Toyota or Honda smash the rear of a other car at low speed their hood will be intact, hood are design to bend...Just purchased a Passat CC and in no way you can found this type of interior in asiatic car, and in no way you can found a exterior design in any asiatic car like the CC...my CC have 100K miles on it run smooth like brand new...so what you problem Scotty ? How many stock you have in Toyota ?
Is there a Verified by Scotty Kilmer Mechanic Certification - even for home garage wrenchers?
Hmm, wonder if GM is still using the 4L60E in those? Great trains for the S-10's and S-10 Blazer's but absolute garbage in the full size trucks!
If the owned would have done a complete trans fluid change at 100k this wouldn’t have happened.
I bought one returned it 3 days later
I have one of these trucks. 261k and counting. No transmission problems whatsoever
My 05’ 1500 went for 240k with no trans issues. It run and drove just fine when I finally got rid of it.
So the 2 wd are better?
Chvy 1500's are at a premium scotty.
Both my grandfather and my dad has owned one. Both reached 300k easy with no issues. Only reason they got rid of it was because they just wanted something new. My family has always been chevy, never had a single issue with any of them.
Seroiusly, If you want to buy expensive car; Get a Lexus.
150k miles is high miles? Maybe for a gm. My 2000 mirage has 340k miles on the original auto transmission. Still shifts and runs like it will easily do 500k miles. Or more. Original engine as well.
I can tell the guys a professional mechanic the cash was bulging out of his wallet.😁
hey scotty I have a 2017 ford fiesta with 73K miles on it and i have a code for the catalytic converter coming up duplicate when i scan it. would it be ok to run a cleaner through my car? if so, how would i go about doing that? I'm lacking knowledge but not the will to learn and save money!
I don't have to worry about buying that truck because I don't even know where scotty is at lmaoooo
Is that a Silverado ?
I'll be keeping my Allison for a looking time.
I have a 2012 4wd and I was quoted $2950 to rebuild it uhhh.
Would this apply to older 1500's like a 1996, or just the newer ones?
I’ve got a 2010 GMC Sierra 5.3v8 with 4x4. 153k miles, I bought it at 75k miles. I’ve only done routine maintenance so far(brakes, ball joints and fluid changes). Should I wait till something big breaks or trade it in for something newer?
miata or corolla rather than a range rover or benz? you be preaching to the no-dough no-shine crowd? corolla lol is not for the discerning. what's a good cool car, is always the question
05 f150 every 200,000km its needed a trans.
Have you ever thought about doing ASMR?
I bet Scottys wife bought him his first camera and encouraged him to make these videos. 🤷♂️🤷♂️🤷♂️
I was in a transmission shop a couple of years ago and a guy brought in his Silverado (that was only a couple of years old) for a new transmission. 🤯
Could you explain how a warn out speed sensor ring would cause a clunk isn't this fixed onto the output shaft of the transmission and not move. Sounds more likely to be a universal joint or too much play in the rear end gears.
Scotty tell the people the truth! Chevy’s aren’t just junk used, they are junk straight from the factory too! LOL!
Send it to Precision Transmissions in Houston
Late model Chevy and GM in general are JUNK!!! My Toyota 4 runner has 301,000mi never had a trans problem ever still had factory starter factory Ac compressor factory power steering and factory alternator the ONLY thing I’ve had to replace in 300,000 miles is a 140.00 radiator brakes oil changes and shocks That’s it. Still runs like a brand new one
What is up with the newer transmissions? I put over 400k miles on a 1995 4x4 S10 blazer, changed the fluid and filter once at 200k. That transmission never gave any trouble except when I broke the shift lever cable doing neutral drops with 4x4 engaged. All my fords were nothing but problems with the transmissions after 100k miles. Screw the pandemic, someone needs to find out why all of a sudden vehicles make a switch from being good to bad after 20 years of "innovative improvements".
Here in NC people want 20k for a chevy truck after 2009, maybe this video will help people realise they are smoking the pipe too much
Would a 2000 model have the same transmission problem as an 09?
I believe it's wiser to buy older low mileage trucks rust free. Mine is 02 as sierra 4 w with 260 k never did trans or motor working good
I had 08 v6 silverado 2WD exact same codes 175k miles years ago it was a turd the code went away and it fixed by itself for months thank god i sold it
A lot of people buy what they can afford. It's easier to buy an older truck cheap and spend the money to fix it up than try to get financing and keep payments up that last the usable life of a car or truck. When I can get a $80 transmission from a junk yard and drive my truck another 60-80,000 miles or until the body rusts out I'm doing good. Especially when I only drive 5,000 mi. a year.
Gm. What do you expect. Pos.
I have seen a 4l60e with a 4.8 v8 that had over 300k on the original transmission and motor. It was the most reliable truck in the fleet.
Or you can by a 200 rebuild kit an do it yourself like I did
Hi Scotty like your work, I'm in Australia and wondering where I can purchase One of the system generator your using Cheers Peter I
It's sad how these days people always think newer is better... my 1991 suburban with the original 4l80e has 288k miles with only a new torque converter and flywheel, and my 05 yukon the original 4l60e with 210k miles... meanwhile all of my friends in our shop saying their (Gm trucks) are better because they have the newer 6 and 8 speeds, are all needing new transmissions and theirs aren't even hitting 150k miles. Even my old 89 Ram with the 3 speed auto hit 200k without needing anything to the transmission!
Love this guy I’d apprentice you if your ever looking To teach Lol
SilveraDONT
$ 8500 to do a ford transsmion
I better buy a Toyota. Screw them GM products that I love. Lol NOT
To bad all the car and truck manufactures have gotten away from standard transmissions!
My 2012 GMC Sierra 1500 transmission went out at 75000 miles. Never used for towing. Cost $3200 for a rebuilt 4L60e. Three year 100000 mile warranty. 🙁 I figured I just got a bad one. I bought the truck new. It is in like new shape. Still looks new. It is about the only problem I’ve had. Still cheaper then a new Truck.
I have 2009 Silverado. Transmission is act bad. 115000 miles. I will drive till brakes. And I rebuilt transmission is cheaper than go buy new truck for 55 thousand dlrs
Scotty: "Your transmission has an internal mechanical failure" Customer: *visibly dies inside* Scotty: "Don't worry, buy a '94 Celica. It'll cost less than fixing the transmission and last longer too."
My silverado 4x4 has over 240,000 miles and still running good, scotty dont like chevy Just the truth, i have seen toyotas with many more issues than chevy
Mechanics want to justify their charge, and most fixes you can you tube and find out
Everyone that has that clunk, transmission Easy fix, just you tube chevy hard shift and its simple fix
You wrong scottie Its a easy fix its just a cheap part that you can change
Please make a video on synthetic fuel
The LS engines last forever. People that don't take care of them will cause the transmission to go at 150-200K miles. Otherwise if they're cared for it is easy to see them last 400K or more easily.
What do you think about Dodge Journey Trans you CAN'T check the oil level.
2013 Elantra doesn't have a transmission dipstick. You open a plug on the bottom and how fast the fluid pours out tells you how much you have, or actually recently had
I copied that contact number from scottys phone case. Maybe it’s of the Toyota dealers for special discounts.
I would LOVE to hear everything you have to say about the 07 CTS 3.6! I just bought a beauty!! But I’d love to hear the good and the bad on this car!! Thanks!
go to precision transmission in north texas. they have a channel on youtube.
Gee our transmissions don't last 200k, what we gonna do, the V8 has too much grunt. Answer: Drop a 4 banger in there, that'll fix it.
@Scotty Kilmer Hey, if that's a credit card # there in your phone case, you really should blur that out. Unfortunately, not all humans are good & decent one's.
what the hell happend to .......its just the vacume module for christ sake........
Scotty's fancy scan tool is just a samsung tablet
