Chevy's are fine they have their issues but if you know what they are and hopw to repair them you will be just fine. I find a lot of toyota and honda gusy make excuses for the cars that they would never accept from fans of other brands. I have had several toyotas over the years and they are good cars. But they have issues too like the wheel bearings go out frequently and are poor quality parts. Suspension components like ball joints and control arms are easy to destroy and will need to be replaced more often than other cars. Some v6 and 4 cylider toyota engines have problems with blowing head gaskets. If you want a laugh tell this to a toyota fan and watch them try to explain this away as a normal wear and tear when a chev v8 can go a million miles without even thinking about a gasket. Also the interiors are cheap garbage so comfort comes into play. I hear of these guys having issues with their GMs and sometimes I wonder what they are doing with these

Hello again Scotty. You really attract the troubled owners huh? Well I have a couple issues with the truck in question, not the fact it’s a Chevy at all, I believe their fine trucks an cars, that I’ve had great trouble free service with. So what I mean about this particular truck? Is the Z71, was an off road ready truck that was packaged within trucks that required certain level of trim, like LT, and engine like 5.3, both not on this truck as you have shown with the required EPA nomenclature sticker under the hood, describing engine sized, plus other pertinent information. Plus Z71, were required to have the LT trim, the hat always came with full floor carpeting and always with a 5.3. So I believe this is an LS trim level truck, that was only offered only with the 4.8. So this customer bought a truck off someone else who duped them into thinking it’s a Z71, instead of just above base trim WT, LS! That’s very easy to, me to see by just adding a cheap Z71 decal!!! Just to try getting a higher price! That’s above an besides any mechanical issues! So who’s to know the actual honest history of this truck h

Thanks 🙏 I actually just bought a 2011 Silverado 4X4 work truck just like this with the same floor 4X4 shifter and rubberized floor and same color. It has 110,000 miles on it. It shifts “ok”. Mine has a 5.3 liter V8 with a 6 speed automatic transmission. I’ve had it for 3 weeks now and am enjoying it. The previous owner used it for lots of towing. It even has special tow mirrors installed. What problems should I look out for?

I have a 2009 GMC Sierra with 4.8 l V8, 4 speed Trans. and 4wd. It has 140000 miles on it and the transmission shifts perfectly except that the torque converter clutch engages and disengages frequently. At speeds of about 40 mph to 55 mph under light throttle conditions the TCC will lock and then almost immediately unlock and then repeat. Do you think there is a way of fixing this condition?

Most transmission torque converters use a lot of transmission fluid. It is one of the primary reasons for problems if you don't replace your transmission fluids as scheduled - usually around every 60,000 miles. I guess I have been very lucky as for except for Hondas, I have never had a transmission problem before 200,000 on any car I have owned - Subaru, GM, and Toyota.

Shift solenoids can cause intermittent issues as they are coils the windings break down the core insulation breaks down and they can be stressed thermally. Wire connections both power and grounds can be intermittent as they stress from age and fatigue.. The way to diagnose mechanical wear is to put pressure gauges in the line taps and check.

The first time it happened I thought I had been rammed in the rearend by a semi-truck, very forceful. The Vortec engines are bullet proof but GM has had issues with the transmissions for a long time.

Supposedly silverado transmissions commonly go out at that mileage. But my co-worker and his dad have a 01 and 07? silverado 1500, one with like 400k and the other with 180k or something high like that. One needed a fuel pump and that's all I heard.

Scotty, you didn't mention the engine mounts. Could give the same symptom.
